Ito is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, installation, film, and digital media. His distinct visual language is characterized by crisp pictorial imagery, vivid color palettes, carefully constructed compositions, and recurring symbols that build narratives around memory, time, identity, loss, growth, resilience, and hope. Drawing from his Japanese American identity, Ito uses storytelling to explore personal and shared human experiences, often reflecting on the idea of an inner light that guides us through change and uncertainty. His visual language extends across multiple mediums, from painting and sculpture to immersive installations, animation, and film, allowing each to contribute to a larger narrative and experience. His work has been presented through museum and gallery exhibitions, art fairs, nonprofit collaborations, public art projects, and special projects with creative partners including Hermès, JINS, Adidas, Kikori Whiskey, Soho House Global, Progressive, and Kaiser Permanente.
Selected solo exhibitions include To Give and Take, Institute of Contemporary Art San José, San José, CA (2026); The Enlightenment, Rockefeller Center with Art Production Fund, New York, NY (2025); The Carrier, Japanese American Cultural & Community Center, Los Angeles, CA (2025); Motion Pictures, Long Beach Museum of Art, Long Beach, CA (2024); Sink or Swim, Anat Ebgi, New York, NY (2024); and All You Can Carry, Institute of Contemporary Art San Diego, San Diego, CA (2022).
